1870
Vignobles Chatelier was created by two winegrowing families; and has developed over four generations:
The foundations were laid by Jean Julien Chatelier when he built Château Cantelaudette.

1950
In the post-war period, the property was used for several different activities and a variety of produce was grown. The vines grew alongside corn for the livestock. There was a terracotta tile factory that used clay from a quarry on the property. Quicklime was collected from the tile ovens and used to treat the vines.
Over the years, due to the strong demand for Bordeaux’s wines, the vineyard gradually expanded and became the main activity; eventually Château Cantelaudette acquired more land with Jeantieu and Arveyres.

1984
Jean-Michel Chatelier, the current owner and manager, was born and raised on the properties. From an early age, he was immersed in all aspects of the winemaking profession.
In parallel, he devoted time to a solid training in economics and business management, obtaining a master's degree in economic science.
I inherited Château Cantelaudette in 1984, I was thirty years old and married in the same year. The property was not really a wedding gift: the house and vines had been abandoned and there was no winery.
However, my wife, when she saw the old château, thought that it should be our home. Starting from scratch, we refurbished it to our taste, replanted the vines according to expert recommendations, and built an operational winery to produce a wine under the Cantelaudette label.
Without my wife, Laurence, I never would have had the courage to undertake this adventure. I make wines for her and which reflect her... refined, elegant, balanced, rounded, and with a certain complexity.

Experience is important, but you must always question things, which is why I am also a great believer in training, and listening to the next generation
And so we were delighted when Margaux, Jean-Michel’s 26-year-old daughter, revealed her desire to join us and continue this great adventure. Having received an artistic training, she will bring grace, delicacy and modernity.
